Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated the nation on 79th Independence Day on Friday.
In a post on X, the Office of the CM wrote, “The Chief Minister extends warm wishes on the 79th Independence Day. May this land continue to shine in peace, harmony, and prosperity.”
Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday also extended greetings and good wishes to all on the sacred occasion of Independence Day. In a post on X, the Office of LG wrote, “Heartiest greetings and good wishes to all on the sacred occasion of Independence Day. Jai Hind!”
Earlier on Thursday, Sinha said, “Let all of us reaffirm our commitment to work shoulder to shoulder and build a Viksit Bharat. I appeal to all to contribute their fullest to this momentous task.”

The martyrdom of our freedom fighters and founding fathers of the nation will forever live in our hearts, he said while praising the people who made supreme sacrifices for the freedom of the motherland. While expressing his sympathies with the families whose loved ones were killed in the cloudburst incident in Kishtwar, Sinha said, “I am devastated by this natural calamity and express my condolences to the bereaved families.
We are working with the whole-of-government approach to bring the situation under control and provide all necessary assistance to the affected families.” He extended felicitations to farmers, workers, teachers, professionals, scientists, business communities, youth and Nari Shakti for their tremendous contributions towards socio-economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
