Delhi CM-designate Rekha Gupta on Thursday affirmed that her government would deliver on its promise to provide Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women, while holding the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accountable for its actions during its tenure.
Speaking to reporters outside her residence, Gupta assured that the first instalment of the financial support would be credited to eligible women's bank accounts by 8 March, which marks International Women's Day.
"Fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the responsibility of all 48 BJP MLAs in the capital. We will definitely fulfil all our promises, including financial support for women. Women will 100 per cent get monetary support into their accounts by March 8," Gupta said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) manifesto, released ahead of the polls, pledged to offer Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women, surpassing the AAP's promise of Rs 2,100.
Criticising the previous AAP-led administration, Gupta remarked, "They will have to give an account for each and every penny to the people."
Ahead of her swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, Gupta visited the Shri Marghat Wale Hanuman Baba temple at Kashmiri Gate.
Gupta, elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party on Wednesday, emphasised that her primary objective is to fulfil the commitments made to the electorate.

Pankaj Singh, another BJP MLA, expressed his commitment to public service, stating, "The party has decided to make me a minister and the responsibilities that come with it, I will do them dutifully. I am here to serve the people."
The BJP secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 of the 70 seats and ending the AAP's decade-long rule.
Rekha Gupta, a former president of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) and a municipal councillor, will be sworn in as the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
The grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan will be attended by Prime Minister Modi and other dignitaries.
