Delhi Police has attached assets worth nearly ₹5 crore belonging to Kusum, a well-known drug dealer from Sultanpuri. These assets were allegedly acquired through proceeds from an extensive illegal drug trafficking network. The action follows an ongoing investigation into a major narcotics syndicate operating in parts of northwest Delhi.

According to Outer District DCP Sachin Sharma, Kusum has been on the run since a raid was carried out at her residence in March. During the raid, her son Amit was arrested. Police seized a significant quantity of heroin, smack, tramadol tablets, cash, and a black Scorpio SUV. The operation revealed that Kusum and her family were running a highly organised drug distribution racket.

DCP Sharma stated that on March 10, police received specific intelligence that Amit, approximately 25–27 years old, was conducting large-scale drug operations from their residence in Sultanpuri, with his mother Kusum as a key accomplice. The family had secured their house by installing numerous CCTV cameras and placing iron gates at both ends of a narrow adjoining alley to avoid police detection. Based on further tip-offs, police planned a raid and intercepted Amit near the Mangolpuri flyover as he was returning home in his SUV. A search at his home led to the recovery of 11*50 knots of heroin and 47.09 grams of tramadol from the first floor. A case was registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

While in police custody, Amit acknowledged that he and his sisters, along with his mother Kusum, had operated a well-organised drug syndicate. Since they managed to avoid being arrested, the other family members have been fleeing. Eight properties, seven in Sultanpuri and one in Rohini Sector 24, registered in Kusum's name were discovered and attached after a comprehensive financial investigation. One of the seized properties is an opulent multi-story building that was constructed by fusing four different homes. Other seized items included one motorcycle, two mobile phones, one iPad, ₹13.24 lakh in cash, 80 grams of gold, 319 grams of silver, and the black Scorpio SUV used by Amit.

Kusum's daughters, Deepa (30) and Anuradha alias Chiku (23), received deposits of approximately ₹70 to 80 lakh in their bank accounts during the past year and a half, according to the investigation. Most of these deposits were made in modest sums, usually ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. When questioned, Amit was unable to provide a legal justification for these funds. Despite the lack of any valid business or employment sources, authorities have frozen four of the family's bank accounts after they allegedly received deposits totalling crores of rupees between 2023 and 2025.

Preliminary bail was initially granted to both Deepa and Anuradha; however, the Delhi High Court subsequently revoked the bail orders. Formal charges have been framed and Amit has been the subject of a chargesheet. The remaining fugitive suspects are still being investigated by the police.

Kusum, who remains at large, has a long criminal history under the NDPS Act, having been involved in 12 drug-related cases since 2003. The Delhi Police is likely to register a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against her. The police have also written to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to demolish the illegally constructed building linked to Kusum’s assets. Officials believe the attachment of these properties will strike a serious blow to the drug supply network in the area.
