Delhi Police have issued two summons to the chairman of the Al-Falah University in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Faridabad terror module case and two cases filed against the university for forgery and cheating, an official said on Monday.
The summons were issued after investigators discovered that the statement of the university chairman, Javed Ahmad Siddiqui, was important to clarify several inconsistencies linked to how the university operates and the activities of people associated with it.
The Crime Branch has already filed two FIRs against the Haryana-based university for cheating and forgery, after the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) raised serious concerns on Saturday.
Officials said both regulatory bodies flagged “major irregularities” after checking the university’s accreditation claims and then shared their findings with the law enforcement agencies.
“The FIRs pertain to alleged false accreditation documents and claims made by the university. The matter is being investigated in detail,” a senior officer said.
Police sources said the summons to Siddiqui are part of a larger investigation that overlaps with the probe into last week’s Red Fort blast.
Several suspects connected to the blast are believed to have links with the university, leading investigators to check institutional records, financial details, and administrative approvals.
Further probe is ongoing.
