Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has strongly condemned the misconduct towards Congress MLAs Ashok Arora and Chandra Prakash, stating that any disrespect towards opposition legislators elected by the people is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“Everyone saw the hooliganism that BJP workers did with former minister and senior MLA Ashok Arora in Kurukshetra. This is not an attack on any one MLA, but on democracy and constitutional dignity. In the meeting of the Nagar Parishad House, the government itself had issued guidelines that no other person will participate, but apart from the councilors, many BJP workers were also sitting in the House,” he stated.
“They had come to the meeting with the intention of misbehaving with the honorable MLA. The Congress demands strict action against such people. These people should be identified as soon as possible and punitive action should be taken,” the former Chief Minister demanded.
Hooda said that similar indecent behavior was done with Adampur MLA Chandra Prakash in the Grievances Meeting. The BJP leaders destroyed the dignity of the meeting by behaving indecently. “Disrespecting a public representative in the presence of a minister is nothing less than hurting democracy, because the Grievances Meeting is a platform to listen to the problems of the common man and find solutions to them,” he said.
“Making these meetings into a political arena is completely disregarding the interests of the public. It seems that the government has converted the Grievances Meeting into a BJP meeting, but this dictatorship of the BJP will not be tolerated,” he said.
