The father of the victim woman in the Greater Noida dowry murder case on Tuesday urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take bulldozer action against the properties of the accused persons, stating that only then will the grieving family get justice.
“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should take bulldozer action against the houses of the accused — only then will we get justice," Bhikari Singh Payla said. He accuses the family of relentless harassment and obstructing her business aspirations, alleging his daughter was set ablaze after dowry demands went unmet. Police have arrested the husband and in-laws, while the NCW condemns the killing.
He said he was aware that a Women’s Commission team was expected to visit today, adding that he would put forth his demands before them and seek justice. He said he had given her Rs 1.5 lakh to to run a beauty parlour but the in-laws “did not even let her put up a signboard”.
As the new details emerge in the case, Vipin Bhati, main accused and husband of the victim is also said to have been booked by another woman in 2024 for allegedly assaulting her, the investigation into the case has revealed, officials said on Tuesday.
Vipin had allegedly assaulted a woman named Preeti to steer away from any controversy after Nikki, his wife, had caught him red-handed with her, they added. She had filed the case at the Jarcha police station.
According to the FIR lodged on October 20, 2024, Preeti alleged that Vipin had asked him to come out of her village Anandpur. “He met me and asked me to sit in a car. He snatched my phone and threatened me. He assaulted me and thrashed me. He also threatened me on my life," she said. The FIR was registered based on this complaint against Vipin and one Tushar, who was also present on the spot.
According to media reports, last year, Vipin was seen driving in Delhi with another woman when Nikki’s family members had confronted him and thrashed him on the road. A video of the incident had also gone viral on social media. Nikki’s sister Kanchan, who was married in the same family, earlier alleged that Vipin was involved with several women and was once caught with another woman in Molarband in the national capital. She said that Nikki had uncovered Vipin’s extramarital affair, due to which tensions had been brewing between the couple for over a week.
On August 21, Vipin allegedly set Nikki on fire and killed her over the dowry demand of Rs 36 lakh. The incident took place in front of Kanchan and Nikki’s minor son. All accused in the case, including Vipin, his father, his mother, and his brother, have been arrested.
