KN Rajanna, the former Karnataka Cooperative Minister, has stated that his recent removal from the cabinet was a decision by the Congress high command and part of a conspiracy. Rajanna, who was "dropped" from his position, said he would reveal the details of this conspiracy when the time is right.

Speaking to reporters, Rajanna acknowledged the letter sent to the governor and the term "dropped" used within it. He confirmed, "It was the High Command’s decision to drop me, so the Chief Minister sent the letter to the governor, and based on that, he accepted it." To avoid embarrassing the high command, he will not question them now, added the minister.

Despite this, Rajanna maintained that there was a conspiracy behind his ousting. "Even if you want to use terms like 'resignation', 'dropped', or 'sacked', there is a conspiracy behind this," he said. "Who conspired, who is behind it, which leaders were involved, and how it all happened, I will reveal everything when the time is right."

Rajanna's removal follows a period of controversy stemming from his remarks on voter list irregularities during the Congress' previous term. He had publicly admitted that voter list revisions were poorly monitored, highlighting issues such as duplicate entries and suspicious names in areas with low populations. While he criticised the party for its silence during the draft stage and accused the Election Commission of altering the list to benefit the Prime Minister, he also acknowledged the party's failure to object in a timely manner.

Law Minister HK Patil defended the high command’s decision, stating that it was made in the party's interest and that “party discipline is well maintained”.

The timing of Rajanna’s departure is particularly sensitive, as senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, have been alleging that the Election Commission is collaborating with the Bharatiya Janata Party to "steal elections" in the country.
