The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Delhi team today reached Pakur district in Jharkhand, where it is conducting a search operation at the office of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) located near Maulana Chowk.
The raid is a part of ED’s nationwide action on SDPI on the charges of anti-national activities including money laundering.
Apart from Jharkhand ED is conducting raids in Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan at various locations.
During the raid, based on information received from Delhi, the ED raided the party's office located at Maulana Azad Chowk in Pakur through its Ranchi-based team.
Notably, on March 3, the ED had arrested SDPI national president MK Faizi. According to the information, the ED has taken this action on the basis of important evidence and electronic evidence collected during the investigation of the recent money laundering case.

SDPI was established in 2009 and it was earlier associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI), which was banned by the Central government a few years ago.
However, SDPI has denied any such connection with PFI and described itself as an independent organization.
Jharkhand has been notorious for PFI activities in the past and the opposition party, BJP, has been levelling allegations on the ruling coalition of promoting such organisations in the name of protecting the minorities.
