Security officials in Rajasthan have reported that a government employee and former personal assistant to a senior Congress leader was detained on Wednesday for allegedly spying on behalf of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The individual, identified as Sakur Khan Mangaliya, was apprehended by a special team of the state’s CID and intelligence wing from his office in a government department in Jaisalmer. Khan, a resident of the Jaisalmer district, is currently posted at the local employment office and was on duty at the district administration’s control room during Operation Sindoor.
According to officials, Khan had long been under the radar of intelligence agencies following reports of his suspected ties with a Pakistani Embassy official. Surveillance on his movements and digital activity indicated possible connections with the ISI.
"Based on inputs from higher headquarters about his involvement in suspicious activities, we have detained him for verification and questioning," said Sudhir Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police, confirming the development.

Khan previously served as a personal aide to Shale Mohammad, a former minister in the Congress government. Both Khan and Mohammad hail from the same village in Rajasthan.
Sources within the intelligence establishment revealed that several unknown Pakistani numbers were discovered on Khan’s mobile phone. During preliminary questioning, Khan reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for their presence. He also admitted to travelling to Pakistan between six and seven times in recent years.
While no military-grade videos or classified material were retrieved from his phone, officials noted that several posts had been deleted. His financial records, including two active bank accounts, are currently under scrutiny.
"There was surveillance on his movements for some time. His links with an officer in the Pakistan Embassy and the possibility of connections with a Pakistani intelligence agency prompted the intelligence team from Jaipur to take action," sources added.
Khan is expected to be taken to the Central Investigation Centre in Jaipur for further interrogation as the inquiry intensifies into the alleged espionage operation.
