Ferozepur man on deportee list missing, family loses contact

While sharing their ordeal, Navdeep's mother said, "We searched for our child at the airport, but his friend told us he was taken off the flight because he wasn’t feeling well."

Despite being on the list of deportees from the US, Navdeep Singh is yet to return home.

Navdeep Singh, a resident of Ferozepur, Punjab, has not returned home even though his name was on the list of deportees. Since February 5, three batches of illegal immigrants have arrived in India, but there has been no sign of him.

Navdeep Singh's name appeared twice on the deportation list after he failed to enter the U.S. illegally twice in eight months using the dangerous “donkey” route. His family has not been able to contact him.

His father, Kashmir Singh, who runs a small sweet shop in Taranwala village, said Navdeep was supposed to return on February 15 on the second U.S. deportation flight, which carried 116 illegal immigrants. However, when the family reached Amritsar to receive him, he was not on the flight.

"We waited for him at the airport, but when his friend arrived, he told us that Navdeep wasn’t on the plane. He said Navdeep was taken off the flight because he had a fever. We are very worried because we have no information about him," his father said.

Navdeep's mother also shared their distress. "We searched for our child at the airport, but his friend told us he was removed from the flight due to illness. We have not spoken to him, and no one is telling us anything. We are praying for his safe return," she said.

Navdeep’s family had spent over Rs 40 lakh to send him to the U.S., but he was arrested in Panama and deported. Despite the setback, he attempted again, traveling from Malaysia to Guatemala. Two months later, he finally reached the U.S. by paying another Rs 15 lakh to the same travel agent and taking the risky “donkey” route.

However, he was caught again and detained on January 27. Since then, his family has had no updates on his whereabouts.
