Uttarakhand Police on Thursday registered three FIRs against unknown persons for reportedly sharing misleading and factually incorrect videos and reels about alleged mismanagement during the ongoing Kedarnath Yatra, officials said.

The cases were lodged at Sonprayag police station in Rudraprayag district after authorities continuously monitored social media platforms, according to an official statement.

The viral videos claimed that devotees were being denied darshan and made to stand in queues for nearly 15 hours. The posts also alleged poor police presence and chaotic arrangements at the shrine.

Officials described the claims as misleading and baseless, stating that the ground situation was different from what was being portrayed online. The administration said darshan for devotees is being conducted in a systematic, phased and rule-based manner.

The statement added that such videos were creating confusion among the public, damaging the image of the Char Dham Yatra and spreading unnecessary fear and mistrust among devotees.

Following directions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, police initiated strict action against those spreading misinformation and FIRs were registered against the unknown persons.

Police said cases were registered under Sections 353(1)(b) and 353(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
