 Sharp overnight rains lashed Chennai and areas close by, leading to flight disruption on Tuesday, with many trees also uprooted.

 

A number of arriving and departing international and domestic flights were delayed due to the rain, officials at the airport said, according to PTI.

 

Services to and from Dubai, Delhi and Pune were among those delayed, they added.

 

In the city, trees were uprooted in some parts, including Kodambakkam. Civic personnel had also been called to remove them.

 

The rains brought some respite to the residents from the sweltering heat.
