Gehlot slams BJP for stalling Sanjivani scam probe

He called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to take immediate cognizance of the issue and ensure justice for the victims.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government of slowing down the investigation into the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam after coming to power.

He called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to take immediate cognizance of the issue and ensure justice for the victims.

The Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam, which has been under investigation since 2019, involves the alleged defrauding of thousands of investors, with financial irregularities amounting to approximately ₹900 crore.

Gehlot alleged that after the BJP assumed office in Rajasthan, there has been a significant lack of progress in the probe, with the Special Operations Group (SOG) reportedly ceasing to consider many individuals as accused in the case.

In addition to raising concerns over the Sanjivani case, Gehlot also highlighted alleged irregularities in the Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society scam, which involved large-scale fraud across multiple states, including Rajasthan and Gujarat.

He claimed that the society misappropriated substantial amounts of money from investors, leading to action from central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED had attached several properties linked to the scam on April 8, 2019, in an effort to recover funds and return them to the affected investors.

Gehlot further alleged that in 2024 and 2025, officials in Sirohi district initiated the transfer of multiple properties belonging to Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society to the liquidator without obtaining the necessary permissions from the ED.

He accused the local administration of auctioning 22 bighas of land at prices significantly lower than the prevailing market rates, which, according to him, indicated collusion between BJP leaders and government officials to the detriment of investors.

Taking to the microblogging platform X, Gehlot expressed his concerns about these alleged financial irregularities and demanded action from the highest authorities.

He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to intervene and take decisive steps to address the grievances of investors affected by cooperative society scams such as Sanjivani and Adarsh in Rajasthan.
