A Goa court on Wednesday remanded Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of the now-gutted Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, in police custody for five days.
The two were brought to Goa from Delhi earlier on Wednesday after being deported from Thailand, where they had fled after their nightclub caught fire on December 6, killing 25 people. Both were produced in the Goa court after undergoing health check-ups twice at the District Hospital in North Goa.
The Luthra brothers arrived at the Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in North Goa at 10.45 a.m. along with a police team, from where there were taken to a Primary Health Centre at Siolim for a medical examination. They were then taken to the District Hospital at Mapusa, following which they were produced in the court.
However, the court ordered that they be sent for a fresh medical examination, post which they were again taken to the District Hospital.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Mapusa, Puja Sardesai, then remanded them in police custody for five days.
After the fire tragedy at their nightclub in Arpora village, the Anjuna police registered a case against the Luthra brothers on various charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Five managers and staff members of the nightclub have already been arrested by the Goa police in connection with the fire.
Following their arrest at the Delhi airport on December 16, a court in the capital city allowed the Goa police their two-day transit remand.
The duo had fled to Thailand just hours after a fire ravaged their nightclub, prompting the Indian authorities to issue an Interpol Blue Corner Notice and cancel their passports. They were later detained by Thai police at Phuket on December 11, following which the Indian government and Thai authorities coordinated to have them deported under legal treaties between the two countries.
