In Gwalior, miscreants broke into a State Bank of India ATM and looted the cash. The incident took place in Anand Nagar, Bahodapur, around 3:15 am on Thursday night into Friday morning. The exact amount stolen is still unknown.
Superintendent of Police Dharamvir Singh stated that the criminals used a gas cutter to break into the ATM, which was installed at Anil Sikarwar’s house. CCTV footage from around the crime scene shows 4-5 suspects arriving in a white car at 3:15 am, looting the cash, and fleeing in just 17 minutes.
The crime's method is similar to the Mewati gang’s operations in Haryana. However, the Wahid gang from Saharanpur was also linked to a recent ATM robbery in Dabra, where Rs 9 lakh was stolen.
The miscreants first blackened the ATM’s front camera by spraying it. They then used a gas cutter to cut the ATM’s chassis and steal the cash. A local resident, noticing suspicious activity near the ATM, alerted the authorities via Dial 100.
Despite the arrival of police, the criminals had already fled the scene. Investigations revealed that the ATM had been refilled with cash the previous evening by bank employees.
