Heavy rain triggers landslides, blocks key roads in Solan on Monday.

Continuous heavy rain since last night has caused landslides and road blockages across several parts of Solan district, severely disrupting traffic. Important routes, including Dharampur-Subathu, Dharampur-Kasauli, Jandauri-Pratha-Nabon, Kunihar-Totu, Waknaghat-Mamlig, and Kasauli-Jangeshu roads, were affected by landslides. Muddy water flowing down fragile hillsides added to the problem.

Trees were uprooted and fell onto the roads, making the situation worse. Many commuters were left stranded on their way to work as key roads were blocked by mud, boulders, and fallen trees.

Several people had to take long detours or cancel their travel plans. Vehicles were stuck on both sides of the affected stretches, waiting for the roads to clear.
One two-wheeler rider was trapped on the Dharampur-Kasauli road when a sudden downpour triggered heavy debris and muddy water flow. A 50-meter section of the road became impassable. Many travelers chose the Sanawar route to reach Kasauli instead.

The authorities are working to remove debris and restore normal traffic, but ongoing rain continues to make it difficult.

Mandi: In Mandi, heavy rainfall has triggered multiple landslides, blocking the Chandigarh-Manali highway at several points, including Dwada, Jhalogi, and Kainchi Mod. Traffic has come to a complete standstill, affecting both locals and tourists.

Other routes, such as the Kotli-Dharampur highway, have also been hit. Long lines of vehicles are reported on the highway and nearby roads, causing major delays.

Officials have confirmed that while the main highway is closed, an alternate route via Kamand and Kataula between Mandi and Kullu is open and being used to divert traffic.

Rescue teams and road clearance workers have been deployed, but continued rain is slowing progress. The local administration has urged people to avoid non-essential travel and to follow weather and traffic updates carefully.

Emergency services are on high alert, and the authorities are closely watching landslide-prone areas. Residents have been asked to stay prepared for possible evacuations, as more rain is expected in the coming days.
