On Saturday morning, several parts of Vapi in Valsad, Gujarat, were severely affected by waterlogging following an overnight heavy rainfall. The continuous downpour has caused significant disruptions to daily activities in the area, with streets and homes submerged in water.

The forecast indicated heavy rain at isolated places in the districts of Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Chhota Udaipur, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, and Tapi. The Kutch district was also expected to experience similar weather conditions.
For August 3, the IMD warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several locations, including Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Narmada, Bharuch, Dang, Tapi, Amreli, and Bhavnagar. These warnings highlighted the potential for significant weather-related disruptions in these areas.
The state has already seen the impact of these torrential rains. Navsari district, in particular, faced severe waterlogging, necessitating the intervention of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
The NDRF teams were actively involved in rescuing people stranded in the flooded areas. In one instance, the NDRF team rescued five individuals, including a child and an ailing woman, from Mithila Nagari in Navsari. In total, around 30 people were evacuated from the inundated areas.
The situation in Navsari was dire, with the local municipality stepping up to provide relief. The Navsari Municipality prepared 20,000 food packets to support those trapped in the flood-affected zones. This relief effort was crucial in ensuring that the residents had access to basic necessities during the crisis.
Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel also visited the flood-affected areas to assess the situation. He visited the Borsas area in Anand district, where he met with residents and officials to understand the challenges they were facing. His visit aimed to ensure that adequate support and resources were being provided to those in need.
