Officials have put 73 dams on high alert, 35 on alert, and 16 under warning. The monsoon has also triggered large-scale evacuations. One NDRF team and thirteen SDRF teams are on standby at the headquarters.
Gujarat's 2025 monsoon season had a lot of unusual weather — it started too early, the rain wasn't spread out evenly, and there were sudden heavy rains from the clouds. June was the wettest month in ten years, with about 288.70 mm of rain, which is almost 33 pc of the yearly average, all falling in that single month.
By the end of June, the state had already gotten more than 34 pc of its seasonal share, which is faster than in past years. The rain, however, was uneven. South Gujarat and Kutch got more rain than usual, more than 80 pc of what they normally get. But Saurashtra had a long time without much rain and didn't get enough. Some areas in Saurashtra got as little as 23 to 36 pc of the normal rainfall.
