Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has asked Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal for a special industrial package for the state, according to an official statement on Friday.
During their meeting in Delhi on Thursday, Sukhu said Himachal Pradesh should get a package like those given to Jammu and Kashmir and the northeastern states to promote balanced regional growth.
He also requested the revival of the transport subsidy scheme, explaining that high logistics costs due to the state's tough terrain are a major challenge. This, he said, would help boost industrial production and exports.
The CM further sought funds for building industrial infrastructure, alongwith quality and certification labs to support exports.
Sukhu also asked for the quick release of pending capital subsidy amounts and approval of unresolved cases under the Industrial Development Scheme (IDS).
In response, Minister Goyal assured him that the issues raised would be carefully reviewed, and the state would receive all possible support.
