The Himachal Pradesh government has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of two IAS officers, appointing Dr Amit Kumar Sharma as the new Deputy Commissioner of Kullu.
Dr Sharma, a 2016-batch IAS officer, will move from his current position as Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur at Reckong Peo to take charge in Kullu. His appointment removes Surjeet Singh, an HPAS officer from the 2012 batch, from the additional responsibility of Kullu Deputy Commissioner.
Sonakshi Singh Tomar, also an IAS officer of the 2016 batch, has been transferred from her post as Chief Executive Officer of the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Development Authority (BBNDA) in Baddi, Solan district. She will assume charge as Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur at Reckong Peo.
The transfer orders were issued in the public interest following recommendations of the Civil Services Board. The notification was issued by Principal Secretary (Personnel) M Sudha Devi, and the changes take effect immediately.
Separately, the Bharatiya Janata Party has retained Shrikant Sharma as its In-Charge for Himachal Pradesh and appointed Rajya Sabha MP Darshana Singh as the new Co-In-Charge for the state.
As part of the BJP’s latest nationwide organisational exercise for states and Union Territories, Pachhad MLA Reena Kashyap has been named Co-In-Charge for Jammu and Kashmir, while Satish Poonia has been appointed the party’s In-Charge for the Union Territory.
Shrikant Sharma, a senior BJP leader and MLA from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, will continue overseeing the party’s organisational coordination in Himachal Pradesh. He has previously served as Energy Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and held national-level organisational and media responsibilities in the BJP.
Sharma was appointed the BJP’s election in-charge for Himachal Pradesh before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and was later given responsibility for the state organisation. The party won all four Lok Sabha constituencies in Himachal Pradesh in the 2024 general election.
