Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda paid floral tributes at the statue of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on Monday to mark his birth anniversary.
After attending commemorative events at Parliament House and Rohtak, Hooda reached Jind to participate in a local program where he remembered Ambedkar’s significant role in drafting the Indian Constitution. He highlighted the guiding principle given by Babasaheb—"Be educated, stay organised, struggle"—and emphasized that progress for the country and society is possible only by following his teachings and path.
Hooda also shared a personal connection to Ambedkar’s legacy, noting that his late father, Ranbir Singh Hooda, was a member of the Constituent Assembly and had signed the Constitution alongside Babasaheb, a matter of pride for their family.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Hooda addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent remarks, stating that instead of resorting to political taunts, the government should focus on pressing issues like rising unemployment in Haryana, numerous vacant government posts, deteriorating law and order, and declining development indicators.

He accused the BJP of pushing Haryana from the top ranks of development into a downward spiral.
Hooda also criticised the dismissal of employees from the Kaushal Rojgar Nigam, calling it a betrayal by the BJP. He pointed out that the government had promised to regularise these workers before the elections, but after assuming office for the third time, it abandoned those commitments, leaving skilled workers in uncertainty.
He accused the BJP of breaking promises made to various segments of society, including the youth.

On the issue of wrestler Vinesh Phogat's demand for prize money, Hooda expressed support, recalling that the previous Congress government had a clear policy to reward and provide positions to sportspersons. He alleged that the BJP dismantled that system, undermining the morale and motivation of athletes.
Hooda also interacted with local farmers, who raised concerns about wheat procurement issues in the mandis. They complained that due to unseasonal rains, wheat moisture levels had increased, and procurement agencies were rejecting produce even with 13 to 15 per cent moisture, although dry wheat still falls within that range.
The farmers and commission agents urged the government to raise the moisture tolerance limit from 12 percent to 14 percent. Supporting their demand, Hooda recalled that during Congress rule, additional relaxation was often granted in such situations, ensuring smooth crop sales.
He criticised the BJP government for delays in procurement, poor arrangements like the shortage of gunny bags and tarpaulins, and the lack of timely lifting of produce, which he said forces farmers to suffer due to both natural calamities and government negligence.
