The Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, called upon Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday evening to urge the defence minister to declare the Ghatasni-Shilha-Badhani-Bhubhu Jot-Kullu road as the national highway instead of the current NH3 or the Manali-Leh Highway, keeping in view the former’s strategic importance.

Singh said there was an urgent need for an alternative connectivity to the Pathankot-Manali-Leh national highway. The new highway, said Singh, would also shorten the distance by about 55 km and boost tourism, besides strengthening rural economy. 

Rajnath Singh assured all possible support to the state in the matter.
