The Indian Army, in collaboration with local residents, organised a plantation drive in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the region’s green cover.
The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from soldiers and civilians alike, as saplings were planted across various locations in the district. Students who took part in the drive expressed their enthusiasm, recalling that they had also participated in a similar initiative the previous year, which was dedicated to the Bravehearts.
They highlighted the importance of such efforts in combating air pollution and contributing to a healthier environment. One of the residents involved in the event shared his gratitude, stating that a "Ped Lagao, Desh Bachao" programme was conducted with the support of the Indian Army’s 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit, and he appreciated both the Army and the local community for their active participation.
The initiative is not only focused on restoring ecological balance but also aims to instill a sense of responsibility among the people, encouraging them to engage in environmental conservation efforts.
This plantation drive is part of the Indian Army’s broader mission to contribute positively to the region’s development while fostering awareness about the importance of preserving nature.
