At least four were killed and eight suffered injuries early Tuesday when a tempo carrying the passengers skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Reasi district, officials said.
A police official said that the tempo vehicle from Jammu to Bagankote fell into a very deep gorge, apparently after the driver lost control of it.
Four people were declared dead on the spot and eight others were injured in the accident, officials said.
The injured were immediately rushed and shifted to the hospital by local volunteers, police, and allied field agencies.
However, the official said, that the health condition of the injured was not immediately known.
Earlier, a truck driver lost his life in an accident inside the Navyug Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway late Thursday night, an official said.

An official confirmed that Sukhdev Singh, son of Bakhtawar Singh, a resident of Pallipora, Punjab, was driving a truck bearing registration number PB-02/CR 9118 when the accident occurred, resulting in his instant death.
“The body of the deceased was later retrieved from inside the tunnel and will be handed over to the family after the completion of necessary medico-legal formalities,” the official added.
