Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday paid rich tributes to the police martyrs at Zewan, Srinagar, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, honoring their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

 

Floral tributes were offered at the Martyrs’ Memorial, where senior police officers and families of the fallen personnel also paid their respects.The solemn ceremony concluded with a guard of honour and a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. 

 

Even as ceremonies were organised at district level across UT, the Chief Minister led a solemn ceremony at the Police Martyrs Memorial in Zewan, paying homage to the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.

 

Accompanied by Council of Ministers Sakina Itoo and Javid Ahmad Dar, along with Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, the Chief Minister offered floral tributes at the memorial in honor of the courage and supreme sacrifice of the martyrs.

The commemoration ceremony was also attended by several Members of the Legislative Assembly, who joined in laying wreaths as a mark of respect to the fallen heroes.

 

Senior government functionaries and police officers were also present, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police J&K Nalin Prabhat, Additional DGP (Armed) Anand Jain, and Principal Secretary, Home Department.Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the Chief Minister, who was also Guest of Honour, visited a blood donation camp organized as part of the commemoration. He interacted with volunteers and appreciated their humanitarian spirit, commending their selfless service towards community welfare.

 

As part of the observance of Police Commemoration Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organised a Blood Donation Camp at the Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, Jammu, on Monday. The camp was inaugurated by  Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, and was organised under the supervision of IRP 15th Battalion.

 

The initiative was a humble tribute to the brave martyrs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty. It also aimed to promote the values of service, sacrifice, and compassion, which form the foundation of the Police force. Police personnel from various wings, battalions, and district units across Jammu Zone participated with great enthusiasm, donating blood as a gesture of solidarity and humanitarian commitment. A total of 125 police personnel voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
