Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha reaffirmed his commitment to empowering women and creating a supportive environment for them to reach their full potential.


Speaking at the ‘Sashakt Nari Samman’ event, organised by Buddha Art and Painting in collaboration with Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, he said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, women’s empowerment has become a national movement.


Sinha highlighted that a new era of women-led development has begun in J&K, where women are creating their own success stories and actively contributing to the region’s growth.

 

He urged artists, artisans, NGOs, teachers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to work together to ensure that government schemes for women reach the grassroots level.

Extending his best wishes on International Women’s Day, Sinha praised the achievements of women artists and artisans in J&K, recognising their role in shaping the region’s culture and economy.


“Women artists and artisans play a key role in sustainable development. Their creativity, love, and compassion make them unique,” he said.


He noted that the growing participation of women in art and crafts has strengthened the cultural heritage of J&K. Many artisans have achieved remarkable success, while others continue to build a better future.


During the event, Sinha honoured women achievers and students and visited stalls showcasing the work of women artists and artisans.
