In the wake of State Mourning being observed in Jharkhand after the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the State Government has postponed all government functions till January 01, including the Jharkhand Mainiya Samman program to be held on 28 December.
However, the government, under the JMMSY scheme, has started transferring an amount of ₹2500 into the accounts of the beneficiaries from December 26.
The State government had planned a huge event on December 28 in Ranchi where Chief Minister Hemant Soren was scheduled to transfer the amount collectively into the bank accounts of beneficiary women.
Notably, this is for the first time the government is transferring the increased amount of ₹2500 in the bank accounts of women under the JMMSY scheme.
Earlier, the Jharkhand government had transferred four instalments of ₹1000 each into the accounts of about 45 lakh women beneficiaries of the State before the Assembly elections.
Seven days of national mourning have been declared by the Government of India after the demise of former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh. Due to this, now no state function of any kind will be organized in Jharkhand from 26 December to 1 January.
During the national mourning, all the buildings in the State, where the national flag is hoisted regularly, will remain half-mast.
The State government has issued a letter to all Deputy Commissioners, Secretaries and Department heads regarding the State observing national mourning.
