The Anti-Terrorism Squad of Jharkhand raided Pakur town in the same district on Friday and recovered a huge quantity of explosives from Domangarhia village under Pakuriya police station area.
The district police force and the ATS team recovered the explosives during the raid at the hideout of a businessman Samsul Hasan, sources said.
According to sources, the ATS team from Ranchi and the district police team jointly raided Domangarhia of Pakuriya police station area. During this operation, a large quantity of explosive gelatin and detonators were seized.
The explosives are said to be worth lakhs of rupees. The area where the explosives were seized after raids in Domangarhia village is adjacent to West Bengal's Birbhum district.
A local police official said on the condition of anonymity that the explosives recovered are gelatin and detonators. He said that the recovered explosive items are being counted.
The officer further said that the ATS Jharkhand team had received information that preparations were being made to store and dispose of illegal explosives in Domangarhia of Pakuriya police station area.
Notably, there are dozens of stone mines at Pakuriya in Maheshpur block of Pakur district. Illegal business of stones is also done by the mafia in these mines. Police are investigating the matter from various angles.
