The Jharkhand government on Monday tabled a ₹1.45 lakh crore budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the state assembly, outlining its fiscal priorities and development roadmap for the coming year.
The budget was presented by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore in the assembly, marking the first financial plan of the Hemant Soren-led government since it retained power in the state after last year’s assembly elections.
“I lay on the table of the House a budget of ₹1.45 lakh crore for the 2025-26 financial year,” Kishore said while presenting the annual financial statement.
Budget growth and priorities
The newly proposed budget reflects a significant increase from the previous year’s allocation. In 2024-25, the JMM-led coalition government had presented a budget of ₹1.28 lakh crore.
The current increase of ₹17,000 crore signals a push toward enhanced welfare measures, infrastructure development, and economic growth.
Finance Minister Kishore emphasised that the budget aims to address the aspirations of all sections of society, particularly the poor, farmers, tribals, and women. He stated that the government is committed to fostering inclusive development and ensuring that welfare schemes reach those who need them the most.
Further details regarding sector-wise allocations, key developmental initiatives, and new policy measures are expected to be discussed in the assembly debates following the budget presentation.
