After demanding the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder Shibu Soren, the party has now demanded the State government to give him the status of ‘Father of Jharkhand’.
JMM leader Manoj Kumar Pandey today said that he met the Chief Minister today during the Monsoon Session of Assembly and handed over a letter to him with a demand that the late Shibu Soren be given the status of the father of the state of Jharkhand.
He has said that every particle of Jharkhand will remain indebted to late Shibu Soren. ‘Dishom Guru’ lost his childhood, spent his youth and reached old age for the creation of Jharkhand state.
Pandey said that during the Jharkhand Nirman Andolan, he was made a subject of ridicule, was tortured in many ways. There were many conspiracies to tarnish the movement. The conspirators also made him spend time in jail and prison. He also faced extreme tortures.
The JMM leader said that Shibu Soren dreamt of Jharkhand state and he neither got tired nor stopped till the state was created. The entire state is deeply saddened by the demise of Shibu Soren. Every Jharkhandi is still feeling the void.
Pandey said that just as Mahatma Gandhi has been given the status of the Father of the Nation, Shibu Soren, who played an important role in the Jharkhand movement and the formation of the state, should be honoured as the father of the state.
He also demanded that Shibu Soren's picture be put up in all government offices in the state, so that the new generation can take inspiration from his contribution and struggle.
Pandey said that this step is necessary to strengthen the identity of Jharkhand and the people of the state will feel proud of it.
