Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday announced the suspension of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor services until further notice, citing security concerns.
“In view of the existing security scenario, the services of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor have been suspended till further directions,” said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during a press briefing.
The decision follows a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), prompting heightened alertness across border regions.
The corridor, which allows Indian pilgrims visa-free access to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Narowal district, had its bilateral agreement renewed in October 2024 for another five years. Originally signed on October 24, 2019, the agreement was aimed at facilitating religious visits through the corridor.
Authorities have not specified when the services will resume, with officials indicating that future decisions will be based on the evolving security situation.
