Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, VK Birdi, chaired a high-level security review meeting on Sunday at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar. The meeting came in the wake of the recent deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
Senior officers from multiple agencies were present. These included representatives from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, Intelligence Bureau, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The officers briefed the IGP on the overall security situation in the Kashmir Valley. The discussions focused on intelligence sharing, threat assessment, and emergency preparedness. The aim was to understand the challenges posed by the evolving security landscape.
The IGP stressed the need for strong inter-agency coordination. He called for seamless intelligence sharing and better joint operations across all forces. According to a statement from the J&K Police, the goal is to maintain peace and stability in the Valley through close cooperation.

The meeting was also attended virtually by DIGs and SSPs from various districts and police divisions of Kashmir Zone.
The joint review follows the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam last Tuesday. Gunmen opened fire on tourists at Baisaran meadow, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. Several others were injured. The incident is among the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, which killed 40 CRPF personnel.
Security forces remain on high alert. Intelligence efforts have been stepped up, and searches are underway for those involved in the Pahalgam killings.
Officials reiterated their resolve to act firmly against terrorism and protect civilians. The IGP urged all agencies to stay vigilant and ensure no lapses in the future.
