Khadse’s son-in-law among 7 held in raid at Pune rave party

NCP (SP) leader Eknath Khadse added a probe must be carried out to ascertain if the police action had a political motive.


Pune police have confiscated drugs, hookah setups and liquor after raiding a party in a flat here during the early hours of Sunday and arresting seven people, officials informed. Pranjal Khewalkar, husband of former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse's daughter Rohini Khadse, was among the seven people arrested, a top police official informed. NCP (SP) leader Eknath Khadse added a probe must be carried out to ascertain if the police action had a political motive.

 

Rohini Khadse is state president of the opposition NCP (SP) women's wing. The police Crime Branch conducted the raid at the studio apartment in the upmarket Kharadi locality of Maharashtra's Pune city on a tip about a rave party, an official stated.

The operation was carried out during which narcotic material such as ganja, liquor and hookah were seized, he added.

"We 
received inputs that a rave party was being organized at an apartment in KharadiBased on these inputs, the raid was carried out by our Crime Branch team," said the senior police officer.

"
Under the course of the raid, narcotic materials such as ganja, alcohol, and hookah were recovered. We have arrested seven individuals — five males and two females," he stated.

"All the 
persons have been arrested, and a case has been registered," the official further added.

Commenting on the raid, Eknath Khadse said it should be investigated whether there was a political angle behind the police action.

Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sushma Andhare 
stated that the raid is a warning to those speaking out against the government.
