The reports suggesting that Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been named in the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald money laundering case have triggered political furore in Telangana, with the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) demanding his resignation.
In its chargesheet, the ED has reportedly alleged that Revanth, while serving as the state congress president, solicited funds for the Young Indian Private Limited, which owns National Herald newspaper, in return for promises of political influence and positions.
The development has provided ammunition for the opposition to attack the Chief Minister. “He must resign from CM’s post to ensure a free and fair probe in the ongoing case,” the BRS working president KT Rama Rao said.
He also questioned the silence of the BJP in the matter at a time when the party’s Karnataka counterparts were demanding resignation of that State’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as his name was also mentioned in the ED chargesheet.

The chargesheet had explained the modus operandi of the money transfer process followed by the Congress leaders including those who were not named as accused in the case, KTR said.
The opposition leader accused the chief minister of turning Telangana into an “ATM for the Congress Party.”
“The ED has officially exposed Telangana’s moneybag man. Revanth Reddy has been caught influencing donors with political promises. He built a corrupt empire even before taking office. Since becoming CM, he has expanded it into a multi-thousand crore scam,” KTR alleged.
The former minister reminded that it was the Congress that had demanded resignation of the then Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in 2020 in a corruption case pertaining to 2019.
“If Revanth Reddy is sincere and clean, he must immediately quit as the Chief Minister or the Congress high command must sack him to ensure a free and fair probe,” KTR demanded.
The BRS leader also alleged that there was an unholy nexus between Congress and BJP and said the state BJP leaders were maintaining curious silence over the issue.
KTR alleged that Revanth was resorting to daily “attention diversion dramas” to escape accountability. “Every press meet, every outburst is a smokescreen to distract the people of Telangana from the real issue of a Chief Minister being named in a money laundering chargesheet,” he said.
KTR also raised doubts over Revanth’s political integrity. “Will he now kneel before BJP leaders in secret to escape investigation, just like other turncoats have done?” he asked.
