At least two people have been killed and two others injured in separate rain-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua and Reasi districts on Saturday, officials said.
One of the deceased, identified as Shahbaz Ahmad of Jamlan village, lost his life when a truck he was travelling in was hit by a landslide triggered by heavy rains near Malai Nallah in the Mahore area of Reasi district. Two others, identified as Javed Ahmad and Abdul Gani, were injured in the incident that occurred around 2:30 a.m., officials said. The injured were rescued by volunteers and shifted to a hospital.
In another incident, a man identified as Ravi died after his car was caught in flash floods while crossing an overflowing stream near Dreamland Park in Kathua district. The authorities said his body was retrieved after a joint rescue operation carried out by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the police.
Meanwhile, around 20 passengers, including students, were injured when a private bus overturned near a bridge in the Arnia area of RS Pura on the outskirts of Jammu.
