One person was injured and at least two others feared trapped under debris after a landslide struck the Yamunotri walking route near Nau Kanchi in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Monday.
According to Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, rescue efforts are underway to locate and extricate those possibly buried in the landslide.
“One person has been injured in the landslide incident on the Yamunotri walking route. Two people are feared to be trapped under the debris. Rescue work is going on at the spot,” he stated.
Uttarkashi District Magistrate Prashant Arya said the injured individual, a tourist from Mumbai, has been admitted to the Jankichatti Primary Health Centre for treatment.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police, and district administration are carrying out relief and rescue operations in the affected area.
