At the political level, criticism against BJP continues with Deputy Chief Minister of J&K Surinder Choudhary launching a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing the party of failing to control the worsening situation in Ladakh. CM Omar has already been highly critical of what he mishandling of the things by the Union government.
Speaking on the recent unrest, Choudhary alleged that the government was taking “revenge” against environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been vocal about the rights of the people of Ladakh. “Instead of addressing the genuine concerns of the people, the BJP is targeting those who speak for the environment and public welfare,” he said. The Deputy CM further claimed that just as the people of Jammu and Kashmir were betrayed by the central government, the same has now been done to the people of Ladakh. “The Centre made promises but failed to deliver. The people of Ladakh have been left disillusioned, much like J&K,” he remarked.
