Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has once again come under the scanner of law enforcement agency after allegedly fleeing a hotel in Ernakulam moments before an anti-narcotics squad arrived. The incident, which unfolded earlier this week, has reignited concerns over the actor’s repeated entanglements with drug-related controversies.
According to sources within the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF), Shine was already on their radar. His sudden departure from the hotel—reportedly on a friend’s bike headed towards Thrissur—has drawn suspicion due to its impeccable timing, just before the squad's arrival.
A thorough search of the hotel room yielded no illegal substances and the actor’s companion, who was detained and tested, showed no signs of drug use or possession. However, police remain unsettled by Shine’s conduct, viewing the hasty exit as a potential attempt to evade the law or an indication that he had been tipped off in advance.
Adding fuel to the fire are Shine’s recent social media posts, which investigators say may be provocative in nature. Authorities are currently reviewing the content to determine whether it could be treated as obstruction or an attempt to undermine the law enforcement process.
In a parallel development, the Kerala government is reportedly preparing to challenge Shine’s acquittal in the high-profile 2015 cocaine case. At the time, the bust involved eight individuals and generated widespread media attention. Shine, who was named the third accused, was acquitted by the High Court—a verdict that the state now intends to appeal.
