A man has been arrested in Rajasthan for allegedly issuing death threats to Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah and sending him obscene messages.

The arrest took place in Sawai Madhopur, and the accused has been booked under the stringent National Security Act (NSA), a senior police official confirmed on Saturday.

According to Khandwa Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kumar Rai, the incident came to light on March 13 when the minister received a series of obscene messages along with threats to his life. Upon receiving the complaint, the police promptly registered a case at Harsud police station and launched an investigation.

During the probe, they traced the accused to Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. A police team was dispatched to the location, and the accused was taken into custody. Following due process, he was formally arrested, and provisions of the NSA were invoked against him.

As the investigation progresses, authorities have taken additional steps to enhance the security of Minister Vijay Shah in light of the recent threats. The police are also working to identify other individuals who may be connected to the case.

Reacting to the incident, Minister Vijay Shah condemned the act, stating that such threats emerge when anti-social elements fail to oppose his developmental initiatives through legitimate means. He revealed that the accused, Mukesh Darabar, had even threatened his wife, warning that he would make her a widow.

Addressing a gathering of supporters, including a large number of women, the minister emphasized that while people in his constituency were outraged, he urged them not to take the law into their own hands.

He noted that many women had expressed a desire to visit Mukesh Darabar’s residence to confront his family, but he discouraged them from doing so, stressing that legal action would be the appropriate course of action.

Furthermore, Minister Shah stated that Mukesh Darabar was not acting alone and that four other individuals from Harsud were also involved in the conspiracy. He expressed confidence in the law enforcement agencies, assuring that they would apprehend the remaining suspects and take strict action against all those responsible.
