In a tragic incident an elderly person died and two others were injured as the roof of a school building collapsed in Piska More area of Ranchi, Jharkhand on Friday.
Locals said that the roof of a school collapsed due to continuous rains. One person died due to the collapse of the roof, while two others were seriously injured due to the fall of the debris.
Police officials said that a part of the roof of a government school collapsed on Friday. The deceased person was sleeping inside the government school amid heavy rain, when the accident took place.
Two other people, who were injured, had also taken shelter at the site due to rains. The injured persons have been admitted to Ranchi Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Ranchi Police said that the building was of a government school, which was closed for years and the building was in poor condition. However, some people used to sleep inside the building during rains.
Notably, Ranchi has been witnessing continuous rains for over a month and a large number of homeless people take shelter in old and frail buildings. Although the municipal authorities have opened shelter homes for the homeless, they are in less numbers to accommodate all in need.
