A 30-year-old man from West Bengal was discovered dead under unexplained circumstances in Srinagar on Thursday, authorities confirmed.
The deceased, identified as Pallab Maji, son of Manto Maj, hailed from West Bengal and was employed as a jeweller in the Hari Singh High Street locality of Srinagar.
An official, speaking to reporters, said, “The man was found unconscious and immediately taken to SMHS hospital; however, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.”
According to initial inputs, the man was working in the city and had been spotted earlier in the day at Hari Singh High Street. The cause of death remains unknown.
The police have registered the case and launched an investigation. “The Police have taken cognisance of the matter, and further investigation has been launched in this regard,” the official added.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities have informed the next of kin, and further proceedings are underway.
