In anticipation of football legend Lionel Messi's arrival in Delhi on Monday, the Delhi Police have released a traffic advisory to manage the expected crowds and ensure smooth movement around the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Messi will commence the final leg of his India tour in the national capital on Monday. The Argentine superstar is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Delhi.

The advisory, released on Sunday by the Delhi Traffic Police, specifies that traffic diversions will be implemented on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg. It further states that "no heavy vehicles are allowed from Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road."

In a post on X, the Delhi Traffic Police urged residents to avoid JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg due to anticipated heavy vehicular movement associated with the Argentine footballer's tour.

The primary event of Messi's Delhi itinerary is scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. At the venue, Messi will felicitate Minerva Academy’s teams, which have won three youth trophies. Additionally, the Delhi Police have provided details on designated entry and exit points for ticket-holding fans attending the event to catch a glimpse of the football icon.

Parking restrictions have been enforced around the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with provisions for towing vehicles and imposing fines on violators. The public is strongly advised to utilise the metro and public buses to mitigate traffic congestion in the area.
