A series of western disturbances (WDs) are likely to impact Jammu and Kashmir from Wednesday night, expected to bring light rain and snow across the region for the next six days, officials said.
The MeT centre in Srinagar has predicted a six-day wet weather beginning Wednesday. The weather is expected to remain dry till Wednesday afternoon.
It said a fresh spell of light snow and rain scattered to fairly widespread places is likely to occur during the night of January 29 till the morning of January 30 and at isolated places on January 31.
Subsequently, there is the possibility of another spell of light rain and snow scattered to fairly widespread places on February 1 and 2, while a few areas in the middle and higher reaches may receive moderate snowfall during the period, said a MeT official.
The weather will likely remain generally cloudy on February 4 and 5, with the possibility of light rain and snow scattered to fairly widespread places.

Meanwhile, the cold wave conditions persisted in the Kashmir Valley, though there was a slight improvement as Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.3 degrees Celsius against the minus 5.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, officials said.
This was 3.4 degrees Celsius below the average for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Famous tourist and ski destination Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius. Another famous tourist destination, Pahalgam, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius on Monday night.
The 40-day-long harshest part of the winter, “Chillai Kalan,” in the Kashmir Valley will end on January 30.
