A 26-year-old migrant from West Bengal was lynched by a group of cow protectors also known as Gau Rakshak Dal in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana on charges of eating beef.
Another migrant from Assam was also injured in this incident.
Reportedly on August 27, cooked meat was found with the migrants living in Badhra Slums by cow protectors who termed it beef. After a lot of uproar, the police official reached the spot. The people living in the slum were taken to the police station for further investigation.
However, on August 30, members of the Gau Rakshak Dal created a ruckus in the slums over beef. The group of vigilantes thrashed two migrant youths with sticks so much that one of them died. The condition of the second youth is said to be serious.
According to reports, the young had been working as a garbage collector and his body was found near the village of Bhandwa.
A video of a beating in Badhra town regarding this incident is doing rounds on social media as well.
Badhra police station has registered a case in this matter and has so far seven people arrested including two minors.
The police and the victim's side are refusing to say anything in the matter.
According to reports, SP Pooja Vashishtha inspected the spot of the murder.
SP Vashishtha interrogated the victim regarding security and other matters.
She maintained that the police station is busy investigating this matter.
