Amid ongoing military tension between India and Pakistan, a suspicious metal object, believed to resemble parts of a missile, was found near the Chintpurni temple in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district on Saturday. Officials confirmed there was no loss of life or damage to property.
The object, believed to be part of a flying device, was detected in an uninhabited area of Behad Bhated village in the Amb Sub Division early Saturday morning. Acting swiftly on a call from panchayat head Hans Raj, police personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area for investigation.
In a related incident, a piece of metallic debris was reportedly found from Pirthipur village in the Gagret sub division, located just a few kilometres from Behad Bhated. The authorities have not confirmed the origin of the debris, and a probe is underway.
Sarabjit, a resident of Behad Bhated village, reported that he was awakened around 1:30 am by the sound of dogs barking. When he stepped outside to investigate, he witnessed a bright light and flames falling from the sky, followed by a loud explosion as an object struck the ground.
“In the morning, I saw an object lying near the village path, some distance away from my house. It looked like part of a projectile,” Sarabjit said. He immediately informed the panchayat pradhan, who then alerted the local police.
The origin, type, and potential capabilities of the object remain unknown and are expected to be examined by the Army.
Behad Bhated is located approximately 15 km from the Chintpurni temple in Una district and around 20 km from the Talwara dam. The Nangal dam on the Sutlej River lies about 18 km from Una, while the strategically important Bhakra dam is situated nearby.
