Barely two months after the shocking sexual assault of a student inside South Calcutta Law College in Kasba, another case has surfaced in the same area, with a young model accusing two men of repeatedly gang-raping her under the pretext of offering film roles.
According to police, the victim approached Kasba police station on Monday night and filed an FIR. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rupesh Kumar said, “A case of gang rape has been registered against the two accused. The investigation into the incident is underway.”
Police sources said the ordeal began in 2023, when the two accused befriended the model on social media. Posing as film producers with links in Tollywood and Bollywood, they allegedly promised her work in movies and introduced her to people at parties in the entertainment circuit, said a police officer.

The victim told police that the two youth later took her to various places in Kasba on the pretext of securing acting opportunities, where they sexually assaulted her multiple times. “She discovered that neither the duo had any connection to the film industry. After her attempts to contact them failed, she lodged a police complaint,” said the officer.
Lalbazar sources confirmed that arrangements have been made for the victim’s medical examination and that investigators are verifying the identities of the two accused. Police are also probing whether any individuals from the film industry had links with the suspects.
The incident has reignited concerns in Kasba, already unsettled by a similar case in June, when a law student alleged gang rape inside her college in Kasba. Four accused — an alumnus, two students and a security guard — were arrested in that incident.
