The incident occurred around midday on February 3 near Lal Bahadur Shastri College. Police discovered a Scorpio, a motorcycle, and a car severely damaged at the scene. Sahil was declared dead at the site, whilst the injured taxi driver, Ajit Singh, was rushed to IGI Hospital.

The mother of a 23-year-old man killed in a car crash involving a minor driver in Delhi on February 3 has alleged that the accused was filming social media reels while speeding at the time.

Sahil Dhaneshra died when a Scorpio, driven by a 17-year-old, collided with his motorcycle and another car in southwest Delhi's Dwarka. The minor, who was apprehended shortly after, did not possess a driving licence and was initially sent to an observation home by the Juvenile Justice Board. However, he was granted interim bail on February 17 to sit his Class 10 board examinations.

In a tearful interview, the victim’s mother, Inna Makan, explained that she is was a single parent who had raised her son for 23 years.  “The speed at which the Scorpio was being driven is clearly visible in the reels. He was driving in the wrong lane, came straight in front of a bus, and performed a stunt while he and his sister were filming,” she alleged.

According to Makan, the SUV collided head-on with Sahil’s motorcycle before crashing into a parked car. She further alleged that the driver did not apply the brakes even after the initial collision, causing extensive damage to a bus and a parked car, and seriously injuring a taxi driver who was resting nearby.

“This is not a mistake; this is not an accident. This is criminal activity,” she stated, alleging that the teenager had previously received fines for speeding and that his parents had failed to restrain him. “Some children think they can do anything because their parents are rich and they won’t be punished. If students are not safe on the roads, then who is?"

In a poignant video message, Makan appealed to media organisations and local residents to support her quest for justice. “I raised my child for 23 years as a single mother. On February 3, my innocent child was blown away by a car. I am a helpless mother.”

The incident occurred around midday near the Lal Bahadur Shastri College. Police discovered a Scorpio, a motorcycle, and a car severely damaged at the scene. Sahil was declared dead at the site, while the injured taxi driver, Ajit Singh, was rushed to IGI Hospital.

During investigations, police confirmed that the 17-year-old driver lacked a licence. All three vehicles have been seized and mechanically inspected, and CCTV footage from the area has been collected.
