Seven Congress leaders were injured on Monday when the stage they were speaking from suddenly collapsed in Bhopal. The incident happened near Rangmahal Square while they were addressing a crowd before marching towards the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.
Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh confirmed the incident and said that the protest was organised against the state government's "anti-farmer" policies.
Despite the accident, Congress workers continued their march towards the Assembly as planned. However, they were stopped by the police, who used water cannons to disperse them. The police had already set up barricades in the area to prevent the protesters from moving forward.
Bhopal Zone 1 Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rashmi Agarwal Dubey, stated that the police were doing their job to maintain order. When asked about the exact number of injured individuals, she said she would check but then ended the call.
Attempts to contact TT Nagar ACP Chandra Shekhar Pandey and Station House Officer (SHO) Sudheer Arjariya for further details were unsuccessful, as they did not answer their phones.
