The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly will start on Monday. The Congress party plans to protest over issues affecting farmers.
The session will begin at 11 am with the governor’s address. It will last for two weeks and end on March 24, with a total of nine meetings, according to an official.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, speaking in Indore on Sunday, said this budget will be important for the state’s future. He claimed that all government departments have worked based on public needs and created a development plan.
The opposition Congress plans to bring up issues like farmers’ problems, unemployment, and crimes against women. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar also suggested that Congress would highlight a recent corruption case involving a former transport department constable.

Kunal Choudhary, a former MLA and AICC secretary, said Congress will protest on Monday against the struggles faced by farmers. He argued that farming costs have increased while earnings have dropped, despite the BJP government’s claims.
Choudhary also pointed out that Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of farmer suicides, even though Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is from the state. Congress leaders have further accused the BJP of failing to provide minimum support prices (MSPs) as promised during elections.
State Congress chief Jitu Patwari criticised the government in a post on X. He claimed that the chief minister and other ministers had made promises on over 2,500 issues in the assembly but have not fulfilled them. Patwari also accused the BJP government of misleading the public.
