Union Health and Family Welfare Minister and BJP National President, Jagat Prakash Nadda, met former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and former Union Minister Shanta Kumar in Himachal.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister and BJP National President, Jagat Prakash Nadda, met former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal at his residence in Samirpur, Hamirpur district, on Friday. He later visited former Union Minister Shanta Kumar at his residence in Palampur. Nadda was accompanied by the newly elected State BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal.

Although the visits were described as courtesy calls, BJP sources said Nadda’s objective was to rally senior leaders and strengthen party unity in his home state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.

Nadda was primarily in Himachal to greet his father, Dr. Narain Lal Nadda, who turned 100 on July 3.

In state politics, Nadda has long been considered a close confidant of Shanta Kumar. He was first elected as an MLA in 1993 and went on to serve as a minister twice—in 1998–2003 and again in 2007–2010—in BJP governments led by Prem Kumar Dhumal, before transitioning to national politics. Bindal also served as a minister in the Dhumal-led government and was once regarded as Dhumal’s right-hand man.
